TeaserTuesdays-ADailyRhythm3

It’s Teaser Tuesdays time! This is a weekly meme hosted by MizB over at A Daily Rhythm. If you want to take part, it’s super easy – this is all that’s to it:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My teaser for this week is from The Raw Shark Texts by Steven Hall. I’m still very early in the book, but so far it is intriguing.

“When the First Eric Sanderson wrote the letters he was an empty box of tactics and manoeuvres, a broken wind-up soldier. It took me a while to realise: he was training me to do something he should have done himself. Something he didn’t have the strength for.”

“Returning moments later with a new body. This one carried over-shoulder, like a rolled-up rug. And it was then that Louis saw the flash of bleach-white and hot-pink and knew exactly who the man was carrying.”

“When we imagine, out experiences of sensations are dulled, so as to distinguish these imagined senses from real cues. We “force” an experience in ” an almost intellectual way.”

My teaser for today is from… Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen!! This is probably my favorite book of ever and I was ridiculously overdue for a re-read. I love this book, plain and simple, so how can I not share?

“The occurences of the day were too full of interest to leave Elizabeth much attention for any of these new friends; and she could do nothing but think, and think with wonder, of Mr. Darcy’s civility, and, above all, of his wishing her to be acquainted with his sister.”

Gosh, but I can’t wait to finish this book and then maybe even read it again. It’s so fantastic! Also, please tell me what you’re reading and how you’re liking it.

“He was looking a tad disheveled, but he’d pulled on a greatcoat and buttoned it closed to disguise any possible fashion transgression, and he had boots on his feet, which was more than might be said of a werewolf. Sophronia wasn’t certain, but she believed she might be coming down in favor of vampires as a general rule.”

“Mr Bell gave her one of his sharp glances from above his spectacles. She stood it quite calmly; but, after she had left the room, he suddenly asked, –
“Hale! did it ever strike you that Thornton and your daughter have what the French call a tendresse for each other?”

This weeks teaser is from The Needle in the Blood by Sarah Bower. I’m not very far into it yet, but I’ve been intrigued from the get go.

needleintheblood

“He will not know her, Gytha reassures herself, of course he will not, after so many seasons, so many towns occupied, halls looted, woman and children killed. But if she lets him see her face he will recognise her loathing, sleek and fattened on its own bile, like the serpent endlessly consuming its own tail.”
